Interview with violinists Sarah Chang and Joseph Silverstein
Beginning her career as one of the most exceptional musical prodigies of recent times, American violinist Sarah Chang has developed into one of the classical music world's most captivating artists.
A great violinist of an earlier generation, the legendary Joseph Silverstein, will accompany Chang and direct the Saint Paul Chamber Orchestra this weekend in one of Mozart's last Salzburg symphonies,
Symphony No. 33 in B-flat. The concert will be broadcast regionally on May 30, 2004. In an era when a great many classical artists are finding their recording contracts cancelled, EMI has just renewed Sarah Chang's contract for two more CDs. She also gets advice from Joseph Silverstein about why some projects are best held off for the right time. With two of the world's great violinists in the studio, it was time for a little blindfold test, comparing two violinists' recordings of the same piece (much to the chagrin of Sarah Chang!)
