Dominick Argento
This week on the Composer's Voice, John Zech's guest is Dominick Argento, named as the first McKnight Distinguished Artist award winner in 1998. Dr. Argento is considered by many to be America's preeminent composer of lyric opera.

He received the Pulitzer Prize in 1975 for his song cycle From the Diary of Virginia Woolf. He's lived in Minnesota for more than 40 years, teaching at the University of Minnesota, and helping to create a vibrant cultural life in this state. He's now retired
