Star Wars Movie Interview
May 31, 2002

Listen (How to Listen)

Dc: We are glad you came out to hear live music tonight. There are so many entertainment options. You could have gone to a game.

Tk: You play baseball?

Dc: I'm on a team.

Tk: With who?

Dc: Uh huh.

Tk: Who?

Dc: Yeah. He plays first base.

Tk: Who does?

Dc: When he's not taking the afternoon off . It's a pretty casual league. Sometimes you'd rather go to a movie.

Tk: Oh yeah, I love movies. Like the new Star Wars Movie. I want to see that.

Dc: You've seen the other Star Wars movies?

Tk: No, but I have plans to rent the whole Star Wars series.

Dc: You should start with the very first one and take them in order.

Tk: OK. How would that go?

Dc: That would be Star Wars, then The Empire Strikes Back, and then Return of the Jedi, followed by The Phantom Menace, and Attack of the Clones, which is the new one.

Tk: Right. This is the fifth movie?

Dc: Yep. Episode two.

Tk: Two? It's the second Star Wars movie?

Dc: No. The second movie came out 22 years ago.

Tk: That's what I thought. Funny that episode two is twenty two.

Dc: You mean episode five.

Tk: Episode five?

Dc: That's right.

Tk: The one twenty two years ago? Episode five?

Dc: That's right.

Tk: And this new one … which one is that?

Dc: Attack of the Clones is episode two.

Tk: It was made twenty two years ago?

Dc: No … it's new.

Tk: Well you just said it was made twenty two years ago!

Dc: No, YOU said it was made twenty two years ago.

Tk: But it's episode two!

Dc: That's right.

Tk: It is? It's episode two?

Dc: Yes, of course.

Tk: And it was made … ?

Dc: It's new.

Tk: Episode two?

Dc: YES!

Tk: So when I watch them in order I'll watch Star Wars first and then episode two, "Attack of the Cones."

Dc: No, you'll watch Episode five.

Tk: FIVE! Where'd you get five!

Dc: Episode five is "The Empire Strikes Back."

Tk: Strikes BACK? I've hardly hit it yet! I'm still waiting for the clones!

Dc: The clones come in the fifth movie.

Tk: In "The Empire Strikes Back."

Dc: No.

Tk: But you just said!

Dc: No I didn't.

Tk: You've got five movies.

Dc: Right.

Tk: The first one is Star Wars.

Dc: Correct.

Tk: What was it called?

Dc: Star Wars.

Tk: The first movie.

Dc: Star Wars.

Tk: That's what I thought! Now you ask me.

Dc: What was the first Star Wars movie called?

Tk: Star Wars.

Dc: Right.

Tk: Episode One.

Dc: Episode four.

Tk: You just said it was episode one!

Dc: Episode one was the fourth movie.

Tk: One … is the fourth?

Dc: Yes.

Tk: So it's episode four.

Dc: Episode one.

Tk: How'd we get back to episode one?

Dc: It's simple. The new one is two Episode six was the third movie which came after five which was second and the fourth which was first. Soon the sixth, which is episode three, will come, and that will complete the first two thirds of the nine.

Tk: The what?

Dc: The nine, the series of nine movies.

Tk: Nine? Like a baseball team?

Dc: That's right.

Tk: You play baseball?

Dc: I'm on a team.

Tk: With who?

Dc: Sure.

Tk: Who?

Dc: He plays first base.

Tk: Who does?

Dc: When he's not taking the afternoon off to go to the movies. You like movies?

Tk: No. They're too complicated. I prefer music.

Dc: You want music now?

Tk: I really want music right now. Funny music.

Dc: Funny music?

Tk: I love funny music. With clever words.

Dc: Funny music with clever words.

Tk: Or clever music with funny words. Either one will do. But not just clever or funny. The songs have to be about something.

Dc: About something?

Tk: Not just showing off. They have to be about something real.

Dc: You're in luck. We have all of that. They are giants in the funny song industry. The titans of funny musicked, clever worded and vice versa, songs that are about something real … From Madison Wisconsin, Peter and Lou Berryman.
