Genway - Mix and Match

May 2, 2003

Listen (How to Listen)

(music: theme)

Dale Connelly: This section of our show is brought to you by Genway, the supermarket for genetically engineered foods. If you like your foods refined, try the redefined foods of Genway. And now, from the food lab, here's the produce manager, Dr. Larry Kyle.

Jim Ed Poole: We're having a special this week on Genway Custom Produce!

(sfx: bolt)

Heh heh heh heh heh.

Now you can be the Genway scientist.

Design your own fruits and vegetables! You choose the outside. You choose the inside. You choose the taste.

Maybe you've always wanted a banana / orange / brussel sprout!

How about a broccoli / carrot / peach?

Pick an outside, pick an inside, pick a flavor, and we'll mix up a batch right here in the food lab!

DC: How about a persimmon / guava / string bean?

JEP: Yes! You could even do a cabbage / cauliflower / okra, if you wanted!

(sfx: bolt)

Heh heh heh ... it's all about freedom.

Freedom to choose. Freedom to invent. Freedom to eat.

It's as American as an apple / pepper / parsley pie!

(sfx: bolt)

Heh heh heh heh ...

DC: But, Dr. Kyle, what if I wanted to make just two choices, rather than three? Could I do it that way?

JEP: No! You have to pick three.

DC: But I only want two.

JEP: Three! Outside, inside and flavor!

DC: I thought this was about my freedom.

JEP: It is. It's about your freedom to follow my directions.

DC: So you've figured it out completely.

JEP: Of course. You choose the outside. You choose the inside. You choose the flavor. And you chews whatever you gets, as a result.

You might have to chew it a whole lot to choke it down, but you only have yourself to blame.

DC: It's food you design, with guidance!

JEP: Pick three!

(sfx: bolt and theme end)

DC: Custom produce, the special this week at Genway, the supermarket for genetically engineered foods. Dr. Larry Kyle, produce manager!
