Buffalo Ridge Love Shacks

February 14, 2003

Listen (How to Listen)

Dale Connelly: This section of our show is brought to you by the Love Shacks of Buffalo Ridge! Love grows where the wind blows ... Spark your romance where the turbines whine at Buffalo Ridge.

(sfx: windmills)

Here's the BRLS Activities Director ... Dusty Gale.

Jim Ed Poole: (breathy) Thank You. Imagine spending a few hours, days, or weeks with your special someone in the splendid isolation of Buffalo Ridge!

Approximately 2,000 feet above sea level, miles from anywhere, and fully exposed to the awesome power of nature, each Love Shack is like a luxurious penthouse apartment ... a penthouse at ground level ... constructed at the base of one of our monumental wind energy towers! The constant hum of the turbines blends with the primal rhythm of the blades' transit in their never-ending circle to create a hypnotic effect that leads to thoughts of love.

But don't take my word for it ... Listen to these satisfied customers ...

DC: We stayed at Buffalo Ridge on our honeymoon last year ...

Beth Gilleland: I thought the whole thing was a joke. He said "Buffalo Ridge," and I thought it was somewhere near "Niagra," but ... no!

DC: She stopped speaking to me at Granite Falls.

BG: But once I saw how completely alone we would be at the base of our own special wind tower ...

DC: And the slow, deliberate spinning ... sometimes in synch ... sometimes not ... but so ... so ... I don't know ... monotonous!

BG: I knew it would be a metaphor for our lives together.

DC: Endless ... perfect ... circles.

BG: Very repetitive and yet ... electric, somehow.

JEP: Your Buffalo Ridge Love Shack has a kitchen, Jacuzzi, a loft for sleeping ... and a full set of tools in case you have to shimmy up the tower to do maintenance on the turbine!

BG: That was a romantic discovery ... when I realized we weren't at the Love Shack merely to be spectators.

DC: We were there to channel nature's power ... receive it and use it. So when Mr. Gale called and said one of us had to go up the tower to change the gear box ...

BG: I thought I couldn't do it. But I was wrong!

DC: She shimmied up the tower like a champ.

BG: It got me out of the shack for a few hours.

DC: I stayed inside, 'cause she kept dropping the socket wrench.0

BG: And when I came back down ... well ...

DC: We were really happy to see each other again.

BG: It made the romance better.

DC: Who woulda thought ... a wind farm!

JEP: We've got Wonderful Winter Windmill Weekends planned for breezy romantics! Have a roil in the soil, when you discover the carefree lifestyle at the Love Shacks of Buffalo Ridge!

Jingle to tune of "Blowin' in the Wind"

Where can you go that's a ways out of town
A retreat for a woman and man?

It's a nice breezy spot! The Jacuzzi is hot!
And you sleep at the base of a fan?

You stay close to the ground while the plows go around
And the rates are as flat as the land.

If your romance is cold ...
Colder than the fridge
Try the Love Shacks at Buffalo Ridge.
