MPR hosts and staff share their wedding music stories

We asked MPR hosts and employees to tell us some of their most precious wedding memories. Here's one from Kathryn Hauser, A Prairie Home Companion's music librarian.

"I went to a wedding where the bride was named Beth. She walked down the aisle to the song 'Beth' by Kiss, performed live by a punk band. (They did not wear the Kiss makeup.)

"That song is oddly romantic and very personal to Beth, and it reflects her fun personality. ... I was so jealous, because there are no songs titled 'Kathryn.' "

With These Strings, I Thee Wed
Clergy. Judges. Caterers. Florists. Planning a wedding is a juggling act.

With the wedding season upon us, we thought we'd lend a hand to brides- and grooms-to-be by suggesting music for the ceremony. (Listen to a wedding medley. How to listen.)

We asked two of our resident musicians who've played at several weddings - Amy Hoelmer, pianist and assistant music director at MPR, and Brad Althoff, associate producer of Pipedreams® and professional organist - to recommend music for the big event.
