Take Me Out to the Ballgame
Listener Submission: Most Unusual Wedding Music Story

My husband and I were married 28 years ago in an outdoor ceremony at Gonzaga University's Waikiki Retreat House in Spokane, Washington. The organist for our wedding was a gentleman named Norm Thue, who was also the organist at the Spokane Indians Baseball Park. My dad had worked at the ballpark in various capacities the whole time I was growing up, and he and Norm had been friends for years.

Everything went as planned throughout the wedding, and the music was just beautiful. However, the recessional caught us by surprise. I suppose it shouldn't have, knowing Norm. After Reverend Cornish introduced us to the guests as Mr. and Mrs. Michael Sutherland, we walked down the aisle to "Take Me Out to the Ballgame." I'm pretty sure Norm and my dad had planned this "in the locker room" before the game, and it was a great way to begin the reception!
