Odes to Joy home

My wife and I danced to Harry Connick Jr.'s "It Had to Be You." While the music in and of itself didn't mean much for us, it will forever be a signal of angst to me.

We had attended two very brief dance lessons to get our act together for the big dance. Unfortunately, with all the hustle and bustle around the final preparations, we didn't spend much time practicing. We did show all of our parents and they, of course, thought we were cute as could be. So, we decided to go on with it.

When it came time to perform we glided around that dance floor with a total of four left feet. It was three and a half minutes of following with the wrong foot, leading in the wrong direction, and stepping on toes. It was pretty embarrassing, but we trudged on.

What saved us was a wonderful, and unplanned, dip and kiss to round out the dance. It was our saving grace and a kiss we'll remember forever.
