Weeks later, Hector and his campaign treasurer, Leo, visit Jason, a notorious gigolo and old school chum of Hector's. Jason's wife turns out to be Helen, who has followed Ajax's instructions and married Jason. Hector is upset and exits abruptly. Leo, obsessed with Helen's beauty, unsuccessfully attempts to win her with an expensive diamond. When his girlfriend, Gladys, arrives, Helen hands her the diamond and pronounces them engaged.
