Leo
has turned the gun on himself. On election day, Hector is hiding
in a hotel room, emotionally broken. Gladys calls him, urging
Helens murder as vengeance for Leos tragedy. Helen calls Gladys
to plead her innocence, but Gladys hangs up of her when she receives
a message from Leo in the hospital. Helen arrives at Hectors
hotel to tell him that she has decided to leave New York forever.
Hector, now insane, attacks her.
Gladys,
on her way to the hospital, learns that Hector has won the election.
Leo has survived the suicide attempt, and asks Gladys for forgiveness.
