Leo has turned the gun on himself. On election day, Hector is hiding in a hotel room, emotionally broken. Gladys calls him, urging Helens murder as vengeance for Leos tragedy. Helen calls Gladys to plead her innocence, but Gladys hangs up of her when she receives a message from Leo in the hospital. Helen arrives at Hectors hotel to tell him that she has decided to leave New York forever. Hector, now insane, attacks her.

Gladys, on her way to the hospital, learns that Hector has won the election. Leo has survived the suicide attempt, and asks Gladys for forgiveness.

Three hotel rooms, angry phone conversations... from left to right: Gladys, Helen, Hector... Gladys to Hector: "You must kill Helen!"
"Rotten shot," Leo, in hospital room with Gladys. "Let's get married right now!"
Leo, Gladys; Hector's madness dressed in red. "We must stop Hector if it's not too late!"
