Odes to Joy home

My wife and I had both been married previously—to other people—and our divorces and subsequent courtship had been fraught with a lot of challenges. We decided to give marriage a go despite all the risks, and we felt that John Prine's duet with Iris DeMent had the humor, the sincerity, the humanity, and the hope we felt as we approached our wedding. We chose "In Spite of Ourselves" as our recessional. It caught a lot of people off-guard, but many went out to buy the album.
