![]() Toccata My husband and I will celebrate five years of wedded bliss on Friday, June 15. Though not that many years have passed, there has been a lot of water under our bridgetwo kids is enough to make anyone lose their memory. I will always remember, though, the music at our wedding. We had our rehearsal the night before, as do most couples. Our organist was their to help with timing. We got to the part where I was walking down the aisle with my dad. Just the minute before we stepped into the church, Dad told me how much he loved me and how happy he was for me. With the first strains of "Here Comes the Bride," I started to cry. It surprised me to hear that music and realize it was me; I was the bride! I was glad that I got the crying out that night. It made for a drier wedding day for me. We wanted to pick something for the recessional that would somehow capture how happy we were, and the celebratory mood of the day. Our organist had played the "Toccata" by Widor several times in church and we knew that was the only piece that could match the feeling in our hearts. While we were recessing though, our photographer had to tell us to stop. We had such a bounce in our step that he wasn't able to get the "recessional picture" he wanted! Jennifer Besser |
