Odes to Joy home

My sister was married last October on a brightly sunny, warm autumn day. The large bridal party was formal, and the ceremony held in the Chapel at Fort Snelling.

My father, an amateur musician and retired music teacher, wrote a song for her and her day. It was shared with the attendees and bridal party by a friend of the family for 35 years, the lead singer my dad used to play in a pop band with. Accompanying the singer was another longtime family friend improvising counter-melodies on his saxophone, and my father on piano. The singer, used to performing, crooned to guests and to the bride the song my dad wrote, "Child No More." The title says it all: dry eyes were hard to find!
