Odes to Joy home

When my husband proposed to me, he knew he'd be getting the "whole package"—me and my two cats. Little did he know, I chose the music for my wedding march from a new tape I'd gotten called Songs of the Cat by Garrison Keillor and Frederica von Stade (1991). The song—"Sheep May Safely Graze" by Bach—was lovingly changed by Garrison to "Cats May Safely Sleep." The rest of the church thought the pianist was playing Bach's version, but I knew it was really Garrison and Frederica's song in disguise!

We played Garrison's version on our eighth anniversary this month, and our "two little cats . . ." were somewhere in the house "on the rug reclining . . " My husband couldn't get the words out of his head that night. That song will always have a special memory for me—thank you, Garrison!
