Odes to Joy home

My fiancé and I drove from Omaha to Mound, Minnesota, to be with my family and make wedding preparations. We were dismayed to learn we had an hour drive into town to hear a trio who my mother had hired. I had always dreamed of walking down the aisle to the Hebrew love song, "Erev Shel Shoshanim." My mother had a similar dream for me, but to "Here Comes the Bride."

I did not expect to hear my music, since this was not a Jewish music group. We were further dismayed that we had to wait while the trio played selections to the couple before us. After listening to some nice baroque pieces, the couple asked for music during Communion. I then heard the loveliest version ever of "Erev Shel Shoshanim," played by flute, cello and oboe. When we approached, they asked us, "What can we do for you?" I answered, " Tell me you don't know "Here Comes the Bride." They replied, "We don't."

(My mother said, "They could have learned!")
